I found out, on Friday, that our storage was out of space for the ESXi device. It wasn't even enough for one Win 7 OS. I made the trip where we had extra SATA cables and added the device to the domain controller. I was hoping that the ESXi would allow expansion of the datastore on devices not housed in the ESXi device. This is not the case. It requires the HDD to be housed in the ESXi device. I then had to allow the ESXi's Remote Tech Support(SSH) mode. After allowing this I was able to SSH in using PuTTY. I followed the instructions on the following website and it all works perfectly now!

CA Technologies Still Impressing
I worked for Marathon Petroleum Company earlier this year as an intern. During this stint with Marathon a gained an enormous respect for the company, CA Technologies. They were fantastic to work with and always extremely knowledgeable creating a very strong impression with me. I found an article on Computer Weekly that continues to leave a good impression with me. I am all for reduction of workload by increasing efficiency and leveraging Linux!
vSphere Client Fails to Connect to vCenter
So I was attempting my first vSphere connection to the vCenter the other day after, yet again, reinstalling my Windows Server 2k8. I fully completed the installation but when I went to connect to the vCenter server using the vSphere client I was unable to connect getting the following error. vSphere Client could not connect with the vCenter Server "servername". I immediately started looking for fixes to my problem. My searches led me to the VMWare Knowledge Base. It was a fairly simple fix, only needing me to start the VMware VirtualCenter Server Service. It was set to automatically start even though it did not. The KB I used was the following link.

MacPro ESXi
As of 7/25/2011 I officially got ESXi 4.1 installed on a MacPro. It was a fairly simple installation after using Boot Camp to change partitions to the ESXi installation disk. I did run into one known issue, which is that the installer hangs up on the first installation and it needs to be restarted. After restarting the computer it ran through the installer smoothly with only the base user input to slow it down. I have had no issues with this setup yet and will put together a comprehensive hardware list at a later date.
